Newton Light Infantry Company of Militia Mustered in at this Place by Gen. Henry
Gen. Wm. Henry came over from Jackson recently and mustered into the state militia the Newton Light Infantry. The company will be assigned to the Third battalion of the Second regiment, and the roster is as follows: J. W. Hard, Captain J. R. Chambliss, First Lieutenant W. M. Chambliss, Second Lieutenant L. NEWTON LIGHT INFANTRY; The New Military Company Enlisted in the State Militia
The officers of the Newton Light Infantry, the military company organized here some time since, have received their commissions, and the uniforms, accoutrements, etc., will be received some time later. The company is enlisted as Company H, First battalion, Second regiment of Infantry, and the enrollment is as follows: J. W. Hard, Captain J. R. Chambliss, First Lieutenant W. M. Chambliss, Second Lieutenant L. R. Hard, First Sergeant R. G. Rew, Quartermaster Sergeant W. W. Bounds, Third Sergeant W. H. Cooper, Fourth Sergeant J. D. Brown, First Corporal C. E.
